| Arrival Information |

Arriving by air: Barcelona Airport is 12 km out of the city. There are various ways of getting from the airport to the city centre. |
| |
 |
|
Taxi
Do not accept transportation offers from people at the airport terminal. They are most likely illegal and will charge abusive prices.
The black-and-yellow taxis can be hired on the spot. Use only official TAXIS which can be found at designated stops outside the terminals. You will have to queue to get one. The cost of the ride from the airport to the University can vary depending on several factors like traffic, night fee after 11 p.m., etc. The average fare from the airport is approximately 18€ to Sants Station, and around 25€ to any other point in the city centre.
Although the majority of taxi drivers are friendly and honest with newcomers, there are always some exceptions. The driver's registration license should be clearly visible on the dashboard. Make sure that the driver turns on the meter! If you think you have been charged too much, ask for a "RECIBO" (receipt) and make sure the driver annotates the taxi license number and the price on it. After you get a clear and detailed receipt you may pay the requested amount. Only with a detailed receipt and the license number will you be able to file a claim against the driver if you deem it necessary. |

The Cercanías train makes an efficient and affordable means to connect from the airport to the city. The train makes several stops in the city connecting to all the subway lines.
Trains leave from the airport every 30 minutes from 6.13 a.m. to 11.40 p.m. The fare is 2.15€, and the journey into the center of Barcelona (stations: Sants or Plaça Catalunya) lasts 20 minutes. |

It takes you to the end of the run, Plaça Catalunya in the center of Barcelona in 30-40 minutes. From the airport, look for the blue sign of "Aerobus". Getting around the city
The most advisable way to get around the city quickly is by underground and bus.
Underground:
Barcelona has five lines of underground or metro (L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5), the entrances to which are marked with a red diamond shape lying on its side. Plans of the network are clearly displayed in the stations. The trains run from 5.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. (lines L2, L3 and L5) Monday to Thursday; from 5.00 a.m. to 2.00 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and the day before public holidays; and from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. on Sundays and on public holidays.
Bus:
The routes followed are displayed at each bus stop. The timetable is different for each line, but is generally from about 6.00 a.m. to about 10.30 p.m. Some lines have a night service, running (generally) from 10 p.m. to 4.00 a.m. Maps of the bus routes are available in the commercial offices of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, which are located in the underground stations of Sants Estació, Plaça Universitat, Diagonal and Sagrada Família.
Types of tickets/passes for public transport:
Single ticket: 1.20€
T-10 pass (10 journeys on the underground, buses or city lines of the trains): 6.65€
50/30 pass (50 journeys on the underground, buses or local trains in 30 days as of the date of the first journey): 27.55€
T-Mes pass (unlimited journeys on the underground, buses or local trains): 42.75 €.
Travelling without a ticket is penalised with a fine of 40€. |
